The Street seems to be underrating the value of the company's mix shift toward precision conveyance, automation, and industrial motion, as these are key enabling technologies for factory automation.

Gov: New color-coded alert system can help Ohio fight virus
- COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio is using a new color-coded, county-by-county coronavirus alert and advisory system to assess which areas may be seeing flare-ups of cases and should take additional precautions, Gov. Mike DeWine said Thursday as he also announced much-awaited guidance for reopening schools.
The alert system takes into account seven indicators for each county, such as sustained increases in cases and in coronavirus-related hospital admissions, outpatient visits and emergency room visits, and the proportion of cases that aren't connected to congregate settings, such as prisons or nursing homes. State officials said they also intend to factor in information from coronavirus testing and contact-tracing.
"This information should inform people. I think it should fire people up," DeWine said. "I think it should get people excited and say, 'Hey, we're tougher than this. We're not gonna let this happen to our state. We are not gonna be Florida. We are not gonna be Texas. We are not gonna be Italy.' ... This is a long battle, and we won Round 1, maybe Round 2, but this is 15 Round heavyweight championship, and we've got to stay in there and we've got to stay punching."
No counties are listed in the most concerning level - labeled purple - but Columbus and surrounding Franklin County are being watched closely as their data indicators are trending in that direction based on "explosive" growth in positive tests, DeWine said.
Franklin and six more counties - Butler, Cuyahoga, Hamilton, Huron, Montgomery and Trumbull - are labeled red, indicating risk there is considered very high and people there should limit activity away from home as much as possible and wear masks when they go out. Twenty-eight counties were in the orange category Thursday, and 53 were labeled with the least-concerning...

Massachusetts Columbus statue splashed with red paint
- WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A statue of Christopher Columbus in Massachusetts was splashed with red paint and defaced with the word "genocide" early Tuesday morning, according to a published report.
It was the second time this month that a statue of the Italian explorer in the state has been vandalized amid nationwide racial injustice protests.
Surveillance video showed two men vandalizing the monument at about 3:30 a.m. and running away, police told The Telegram & Gazette.
Officers recovered a bucket of red paint, a bag and spray paint from the scene. City workers started cleaning the statue later in the morning. No arrests were announced
The statue was a gift to the city in 1978 by local attorney Nunziato Fusaro in memory of his wife, Esther.
Columbus statues around the country as well as other monuments with racist connections have been targeted by protesters speaking out against police brutality.
Boston's Columbus statue had its head knocked off earlier this month. It was taken down and Mayor Marty Walsh said the city would reassess its meaning. A Columbus statue in Richmond, Virginia was toppled and thrown into a lake during protests on June 9.

The Latest: American sailor Caleb Paine ends Olympic bid
- The Latest on the effects of the coronavirus outbreak on sports around the world: ___ Caleb Paine, the only American sailor to win a medal in the last two Olympics, says he’s ending his campaign for the postponed Tokyo Games to focus on the America’s Cup. Paine, of San Diego, rallied to win bronze in the Finn class at the 2016 Rio Games. It came after the Americans were shut out of the medals at London four years earlier. He says he’s been talking with family members and mentors since the Tokyo Games were postponed a year due to COVID-19 and calls it a “very difficult decision.” After medaling at Rio, Paine was named US Sailing’s Rolex Yachtsman of the Year, the highest honor awarded to American sailors each year. He's also a five-time World Cup medalist and recently won gold at the 2020 Hempel World Cup Series Miami. Paine is a crewman with American Magic, the New York Yacht Club’s entry in the 36th America’s Cup. Competition is currently scheduled to begin with a preliminary regatta in mid-December in Auckland, New Zealand. Two preliminary regattas in Europe were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. ___ Five more Baylor athletes have tested positive for COVID-19, making it eight positives from among 109 tests conducted in the process of returning to campus for voluntary workouts and conditioning. There was no breakdown by sport, but the school said of the eight athletes who tested positive, four were showing symptoms and the other four were asymptomatic. Some of the 109 athletes tested so far weren’t yet at the Texas school. After reporting three positive results among 59 tests last week, Baylor’s updated numbers Monday included five new positives among 50 tests. Under Baylor’s prevention and response protocols, including current CDC...

Christopher Columbus, Howard Zinn and the Black Legend
- Every year on October 14th, America's Italian community is greeted with a rash of hate crimes that are never seriously investigated. California to remove Columbus statue from state Capitol
- SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — A statue depicting Christopher Columbus that has been the centerpiece of the California Capitol rotunda since 1883 will be removed after legislative leaders decided it is out of place “given the deadly impact his arrival in this hemisphere had on indigenous populations.” The decision, announced Tuesday by legislative leaders, has long been sought by groups and others who say it's wrong to honor a man who ushered in an era of genocide to North America's indigenous peoples. But their effort gained momentum following the nationwide protests over racial injustice spurred by the death of George Floyd. A statement from state Senate President Pro Tempore Toni Atkins, Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon and Assembly Rules Committee chair Ken Cooley called Columbus “a deeply polarizing historical figure” and said the statue's presence in the Capitol “is completely out of place today.” It's unclear how or when the statue will be removed. Statues have been coming down across the country as government leaders rethink their places of prominence. In Kentucky, officials removed a statue of Jefferson Davis, the only president of the Confederacy, from the state Capitol. And in Virginia, the former capital of the Confederacy, Gov. Ralph Northam has announced plans to remove a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. Monday, Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento removed a statue of John Sutter, a 19th century European colonizer of California who enslaved Native Americans. The statue in California's Capitol depicts Columbus appealing to Queen Isabella I, who financed his voyage to the New World in 1492 that began an era of colonialism in the Americas. The statue was a gift from Darius Ogden Mills, a banker who had advocated for California's Capitol...

Christopher Columbus statues could be stored or relocated
- NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut cities are evaluating relocating or storing statues of Christopher Columbus following the defacing of statues in his likeness across the nation.
The New London statue at Bank and Blinman streets was moved Sunday to an undisclosed warehouse, the Day reported.
Mayor Michael Passero announced Thursday that he would have the statue relocated to prevent more damage after seeing Columbus statues in other cities beheaded.
There has been debate across the nation over Columbus' legacy. Some value his historical contributions as an explorer, and others contest he is a symbol of the conquest and subjugation of indigenous people.
"The statue is just too offensive to too many people," Passero said. "While I would have rather waited to see the community consensus on what should happen and where it should go, it's become such a lightning rod that I don't see it being erected anywhere in the city, at least not right now."
Middletown's statue was removed from Harbor Park on Saturday in preparation for upcoming construction. City leaders are discussing if the statue should be displayed at a public space or private location.
In New Haven, community leaders including Italian-Americans called for the removal of the statue at Wooster Square on Monday. They requested the removal of "the statue of a controversial historical figure" and that it be relocated to a museum where the public can educate themselves.
Mayor Justin Elicker said Monday that the statue will be removed, an action he agreed with.
"After the statue is removed, I believe it is important that we, as a community, have a conversation about how to best honor the heritage of so many Italians who have made New Haven their home," he said in a statement.

Columbus statue removed from Connecticut park
- MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) - A statue of Christopher Columbus was temporarily removed from a Connecticut park over the weekend in preparation for construction work, but officials are considering making the move permanent amid debate nationally over the explorer's legacy.
The Columbus statue in Middletown's Harbor Park was removed Saturday. Now city leaders are discussing whether it should be displayed in a public park going forward or possibly moved to private property, Mayor Ben Florsheim said Sunday on Facebook.
"The fraught debate over Christopher Columbus's legacy is one that's important to have in Middletown," Florsheim wrote. He said he has received many calls and messages from residents noting that Columbus statues are being taken down in other cities and that they'd like Middletown's removed as well. Others have told him they want to keep the statue because it represents their own families' history.
While some want to honor Columbus' historical contribution as an explorer, others view him as a symbol of conquest and subjugation of indigenous people.
In recent days, Columbus statues have been vandalized in Providence, Boston and other cities. The future of a statue recently removed in New London, Connecticut, to protect it from vandalism will be discussed at Monday's city council meeting.

NHL post-quarantine: Recapturing team chemistry a challenge
- Claude Giroux's Philadelphia Flyers were the hottest team in the NHL back when hockey was still being played.
That was more than two months ago and their next game could be two more months away. He can't predict how things might go if the season resumes.
"I don't know," Giroux said. "Right now, everything's unknown."
Among the unknowns about the NHL returning amid the coronavirus pandemic is what the on-ice product might look like. In a team sport that demands rhythm and chemistry, players will have to quickly adapt after so much time apart to recapture what it takes to jump right into the playoffs and compete for the Stanley Cup.
"We want to see great hockey played," Toronto captain John Tavares said. "It's not an exact science. It's something we've never dealt with before, and we want to make the best and most conscious decision we possibly can to obviously make sure not only guys stay safe, but that the quality of hockey is extremely high."
Unlike basketball, where one player can dominate a game and carry a team, hockey is predicated on players being in sync, knowing where teammates are - and will be going next - for tape-to-tape passes. Timing as a unit is an essential ingredient to success, and it's that timing that could be missing early because of so much time off the ice.
With the exception of a handful of players who were rehabbing injuries, living in Sweden or somehow able to find an open rink, most haven't skated since the season was halted in mid-March. Recapturing that skating stride and building back up to avoid injuries will be a big part of voluntary workouts before the anticipated start of training camps in July.
Some players have expressed concerns about their individual game skills, like Winnipeg winger Patrik...

NHL moves ahead with 24-team playoff format if play resumes; Sharks season over
- The NHL will abandon the rest of the regular season and go straight into the playoffs with 24 teams instead of 16 — if, and not when, it is able to resume play. In any case, the decision, announced Tuesday by Commissioner Gary Bettman, means that the Sharks’ season is officially over, as at 29-36-5 they are out of playoff position. “While we are disappointed that the San Jose Sharks will not be able to complete our 2019-20 season, we understand and respect the decision made by the NHL and the NHL Players’ Association,” San Jose general manager Doug Wilson said in a statement. “We are already well into our extensive season review process and will use this opportunity to build on what we have already started to ensure our club is ready for the start of the 2020-21 season.” There is no guarantee that games are coming back. The NHL and the NHL Players’ Association must still figure out health and safety protocols and solve other issues. Still, ironing out the format and narrowing down its two potential playoff host cities to a list of 10 represents significant progress since global sports were largely shut down in March as the coronavirus outbreak turned into a pandemic. Play could resume in late July, with the Stanley Cup Finals in September or even later. “We will not set dates, choose sites or begin to play until we know it is appropriate and prudent and approved to do so,” Bettman said. Groups of 12 teams representing each of the two conferences will be limited to playing in two cities, yet to be determined, with three-week training camps opening no earlier than July 1. Bettman said voluntary workouts could begin in early June. “We hope this is a step back toward normalcy,” Bettman said. Earlier this week, the league and NHLPA issued extensive...
