United water renews contract with village of bensenville, il to operate wastewater system

Harrington park, n.j.--(business wire)--united water, one of the largest water services providers in the nation, has reached an agreement with village of bensenville, illinois, to extend its agreement to operate, maintain and manage the village’s wastewater treatment system for the next two years. since 2004, when united water began managing the contract, united water has developed best-in-class operations, maintenance, and management systems with bensenville, including the use of computerized systems to track preventive and corrective maintenance, customer service, and permit compliance. “the village is looking forward to our ongoing public-private partnership with united water,” said joe caracci, bensenville director of public works. “united water has not only provided operations and management services for our wastewater treatment system, but has also made a significant presence in our community”. the bensenville wastewater system includes a 4.7 million-gallon-per-day wastewater treatment facility, 19 lift stations, and three storm water pump stations. it serves approximately 20,800 residents. the new two-year contract took effect jan. 1, 2012, and carries provisions for automatic annual renewal thereafter. “united water’s ability to provide a plethora of services from a single source will come in handy as we look to better maintain and upgrade our facility,” says caracci. the effective partnership between united water and the village has been recognized by the iowa/illinois safety council for outstanding accident prevention, and by the illinois environmental protection agency for environmental compliance.
