3m expands offering of stain resistant additive products
Saint paul, minn.--(business wire)--3m has introduced three new products to its portfolio of stain-resistant additives and sealers for concrete, stone and other porous materials. these products are 3m™ stain resistant additives and sealers sra-250, sra-270 and sra-450. derived from 3m’s advanced c4 chemistry platform, the line extension is driven by customer demand for a broader range of stain-resistant solutions. the 3m stain resistant additives and sealers are designed to offer long-lasting protection against both water- and oil-based stains. they offer a viable alternative for many formulators concerned about current supply challenges with some conventional long-chain stain-resistant chemistries. in addition, the newly expanded line provides formulators a wider choice of base polymer, in either a solvent or a water-based solution, to better match their requirements. “there is growing recognition that improving a product’s resistance to staining and soiling can greatly enhance its customer appeal,” said mark grenfell, global business development manager at 3m energy and advanced materials division. “this applies to a wide variety of construction materials, from paints and caulks to kitchen tile and garage floors. because there is such a diverse range of performance and formulating requirements, there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ stain-resistant solution.” 3m has been a leader in fluorochemistry for more than 60 years, and has been supplying the industry with c4-based additives and sealers since 2001. 3m stain-resistant additives and sealers can be used on their own, as penetrating sealers or formulated into a variety of coatings, adhesives and other construction materials to add repellency and stain release characteristics. 3m stain resistant additives and sealers are designed to not appreciably affect the stone appearance, allowing the natural look of the substrate to show through. they do not create a glossy barrier coating that can be slippery and that can yellow with age. other types of treatments, such as silicone-based impregnators, can create a barrier without protecting against oily stains. with these products, end users will benefit from the long-lasting oil and water stain resistance that helps keep surfaces looking their best. the new line extension is available in production quantities. for more information regarding 3m™ stain resistant additives and sealers, visit www.3m.com/additivesandsealers. about 3m3m captures the spark of new ideas and transforms them into thousands of ingenious products. our culture of creative collaboration inspires a never-ending stream of powerful technologies that make life better. 3m is the innovation company that never stops inventing. with $27 billion in sales, 3m employs about 80,000 people worldwide and has operations in more than 65 countries. for more information, visit www.3m.com or follow @3mnews on twitter.
