Metlife names john mccallion head of investor relations
New york--(business wire)--metlife, inc. (nyse: met) announced today that john mccallion has been named vice president and head of investor relations. in this role, he will manage and coordinate the presentation of metlife’s financial results and business strategies to the analyst and investor community. he will report to william j. wheeler, executive vice president and chief financial officer of metlife. mccallion replaces conor murphy, who has been promoted to senior vice president and head of finance for the european regions within metlife’s international business. he will report to james hom, senior vice president and chief financial officer of metlife’s international business. both appointments are effective immediately. “john’s experience and strong understanding of metlife’s businesses will serve him well in this important, highly visible role,” said wheeler. “at the same time, i am grateful to conor for his strong leadership, excellent work and commitment to our investors and the analyst community.” previously, mccallion was vice president and head of finance for metlife’s investments organization, and was responsible for managing financial analysis and reporting, as well as the income and expense plan and projection process within investments. he joined metlife in july 2006 after spending 10 years in pricewaterhousecoopers’ insurance audit practice, where he worked with multinational and u.s. clients in the life and property/casualty insurance industries. mccallion received a b.s. degree in accounting from syracuse university and m.b.a. from the university of pennsylvania, the wharton school. he is a certified public accountant (cpa) and a member of the american institute of certified public accountants. murphy joined metlife in october 2000 and has held several positions of increasing responsibility within the company. before becoming the head of investor relations beginning in december 2007, he was vice president and head of finance for metlife’s investments organization. previously, he also served in metlife’s internal audit department, where he was responsible for various groups, including investments and investment affiliate auditing operations. murphy is a cpa and a member of the massachusetts society of cpas. he also is a chartered accountant and a fellow of the institute of chartered accountants in ireland. metlife, inc. is a leading global provider of insurance, annuities and employee benefit programs, serving 90 million customers in over 60 countries. through its subsidiaries and affiliates, metlife holds leading market positions in the united states, japan, latin america, asia pacific, europe and the middle east. for more information, visit www.metlife.com.
