Lamar advertising company announces appointment of chief executive
officer
Baton rouge, la.--(business wire)--lamar advertising company (nasdaq: lamr), a leading owner and operator of outdoor advertising and logo sign displays, announced that sean e. reilly has been appointed chief executive officer. sean reilly succeeds kevin p. reilly, jr., who had been ceo since 1989 and who will continue to serve as president, a full-time executive position. kevin p. reilly, jr. will also remain chairman of the board of directors. the change of ceo is effective february 21, 2011. “the time is right for this transition,” kevin reilly, jr. said in a statement. “as a board, we are extremely confident that sean has the skills, dedication and experience to lead lamar forward. meanwhile, the change will allow me to step back from the day-to-day responsibilities of ceo and to focus on larger strategic issues. i look forward to working with sean for many years to come.” sean e. reilly, 49, had been chief operating officer and president of lamar’s outdoor division since november 2001. mr. reilly also held the position of vice president of mergers and acquisitions. he began working with lamar as vice president of mergers and acquisitions in 1987 and served in that capacity until 1994. he also served as a director of lamar from 1989 to 1996 and from 1999 until 2003. kevin p. reilly, jr., 56, served as president and chief executive officer of lamar since february 1989 and as a director of lamar since february 1984. “kevin has done a masterful job steering lamar to a position of leadership through more than two decades of transformation in the outdoor industry,” sean reilly said in a statement. “it’s an honor to succeed him. we will continue to work hard to keep lamar at the forefront of our industry and to build lasting value for our shareholders and employees.” general information lamar advertising company is a leading outdoor advertising company currently operating over 150 outdoor advertising companies in 44 states, canada and puerto rico, logo businesses in 22 states and the province of ontario, canada and over 60 transit advertising franchises in the united states, canada and puerto rico.
