Collegiate women sports awards names teresa noyola a finalist for the 2012 honda cup

Los angeles--(business wire)--the collegiate women sports awards (cwsa) named teresa noyola of stanford university a top three finalist for the 36th annual collegiate woman athlete of the year and the prestigious honda cup, to be announced live on espnu on saturday, june 23 at 3:00 p.m. eastern, 12:00 p.m. pacific time. the mexican-born noyola joins brittney griner of baylor university and keilani ricketts of the university of oklahoma in the running for this top prize. noyola, a senior midfielder, scored the game-winning goal in stanford’s 1-0 victory over duke university for the 2012 ncaa div. i women’s soccer championship. noyola was named a first-team all-american by the national soccer coaches association of america, becoming only the second stanford player to receive three consecutive first-team honors. she also competes for the mexican national team. a math and computational science major, noyola was honored as the pac-12 scholar-athlete of the year. “my parents both attended graduate school at stanford and they taught me what it takes in terms of time management,” said noyola, whose father’s consulting company is based in mexico. noyola emerged as one of the cwsa’s “best of the best” on the road to the 2012 honda cup that included honda sports award winners in 12 ncaa-sanctioned sports. “i'm honored to be part of this prestigious tradition and to represent stanford," said noyola.
