Local coca-cola bottler celebrates grand opening of cutting-edge

Charlotte, n.c.--(business wire)--coca-cola bottling company consolidated (ccbcc) opened a new chapter in its 113-year history in charlotte today as the company celebrated the grand opening of its new customer care center. north carolina governor pat mccrory joined coca-cola officials, civic and community leaders and key customers at an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony at the company’s new 71,280 square foot customer care center located on west w.t. harris boulevard in northeast charlotte. the spacious facility features quiet rooms where employees can unwind, color-coded work stations, and desks that easily convert from a traditional seated position to a standing desk in seconds. there are numerous casual meeting and break out pods throughout the facility to encourage a collaborative work environment. employees can recharge in the large break room that features a pool table, gaming station, multiple televisions and a canteen stocked with grab-and-go lunch options, snacks, and of course, plenty of hydration choices. “we are very excited about moving our customer care center and expanding our operations in charlotte,” said coca-cola consolidated chairman & ceo frank harrison. “this is a great, vibrant city with a long coca-cola history. we look forward to serving our customers and consumers from this new, state-of-the-art facility.” charlotte-based coca-cola consolidated, the nation’s largest independent coca-cola bottler, moved into the facility at the end of october. the customer care center handles all incoming and outgoing customer calls – totaling 2.2 million calls annually. the company has renovated a once-vacant warehouse and created office space with a total investment of more than $8 million. “this grand opening is reflective of ccbcc’s dedication to serving charlotte and north carolina,” governor pat mccrory said. “ccbcc is not only a good employer, it is a good corporate citizen that cares about the people it serves.” “charlotte is fortunate to have coca-cola bottling company consolidated as one of its strongest corporate citizens. the company has a long and deep history in charlotte, employing over a thousand people and contributing to the community on numerous fronts,” said bob morgan, president and ceo of the charlotte chamber. “this new facility underscores their strong commitment to charlotte.” of the 2,000 charlotte-based employees, 183 employees currently work at the customer care center. coca-cola bottling co. consolidated anticipates that the new facility will have a total of 300 employees. coca-cola consolidated traces its history back to april of 1902 when charlotte coca-cola bottling company opened as north carolina’s first bottling plant. “charlotte has played a significant role in the history of coca-cola consolidated and was one of the first cities in the world to bottle and sell this great brand,” harrison said. a fourth-generation bottler himself, harrison’s family roots in the business started with his great-grandfather, j.b. harrison, who launched coca-cola in greensboro, nc in 1902. over the last century coca-cola consolidated has expanded to become the largest independent coca-cola bottler in the united states. coca-cola bottling co. consolidated (ccbcc) is the nation's largest independent coca-cola bottler. the company operates primarily in the southeast, with corporate offices located in charlotte, north carolina. ccbcc stock is traded on the nasdaq exchange under the symbol coke. learn more about coca-cola consolidated at www.cokeconsolidated.com, and be sure to follow us on facebook, twitter, linkedin and instagram! —enjoy coca-cola—
