Cal-maine foods, inc. names marc ashby vice president of operations
Jackson, miss.--(business wire)--cal-maine foods, inc. (nasdaq:calm) announced today that the company has named marc ashby vice president of operations, effective july 22, 2011. ashby will have responsibility for all of cal-maine foods’ production and processing facilities located in kentucky and ohio. he will be located in guthrie, kentucky, and will report directly to sherman miller, chief operating officer of cal-maine foods. ashby has been employed with cal-maine foods since 1999. he most recently served as the general manager for cal-maine foods’ operations in guthrie. previously, he served as vice president of hudson brothers, inc., a commercial producer, processor and marketer of shell eggs that was acquired by cal-maine foods in 1999. ashby has also managed various poultry operations in the midwestern united states for dekalb agresearch and croton egg farms. ashby graduated from the university of kentucky in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics. he currently serves as vice president of the kentucky poultry federation and a member of the kentucky state egg marketing board. “marc ashby is extremely well qualified to assume this leadership role with cal-maine foods,” said dolph baker, president and chief executive officer of cal-maine foods, inc. “in addition to twelve years of dedicated service to our company, he has extensive field management experience with other producers. marc also has a long family heritage in the egg business and is well respected throughout our industry. we are pleased to have him join our operations management team and we look forward to working with marc as we continue to serve our valued customers in the kentucky and ohio markets.” cal-maine foods, inc. is primarily engaged in the production, grading, packing and sale of fresh shell eggs, including conventional, cage-free, organic and nutritionally-enhanced eggs. the company, which is headquartered in jackson, mississippi, currently is the largest producer and distributor of fresh shell eggs in the united states and sells the majority of its shell eggs in approximately 29 states across the southwestern, southeastern, mid-western and mid-atlantic regions of the united states.
