Rabbi Solomon Judah Loeb Rapoport (Hebrew: שלמה יהודה כהן רפאפורט; June 1, 1786 – October 15, 1867) was a Galician and Czech rabbi and Jewish scholar. He served as Chief Rabbi of Prague during Eastern Europe's maskillic revolution, and he is widely considered to be one of the founders of the new Wissenschaft des Judentums movement. This work is a sort of lexical encyclopedia dealing with a wide range of Talmudic people, places and concepts, arranged in alphabetical order. This is a facsimile reprint from the second, expanded, edition published in Warsaw 1914.
